Halloween was essentially and basically a rural celebration.
It belongs to the countryside, the small town where the people are close to the earth, and all that comes from and lives upon the earth.
Far back in history, man, realizing that summer was done and the work of nature, busy all the previous months, was at an end, held religious ceremonies to thank the gods for sending him food upon which to live.
